photoMy daughter Fiona is quite the glamour girl.  I am constantly amazed at the amount of time she spends doing her hair, make-up and nails EVERY SINGLE DAY! It is unreal!  She gets up extra early to look fabulous for school.  I swear I was never that child…ever.

Based on the amount of time and energy she puts in every day she should look fabulous and she DOES!  For example, today she had on a a lovely hot pink skirt with a cute jacket.  Her fashion sense is unreal for her age and I can only hope that she takes this talent of hers and runs with it.

On the flip side her room is a constant mess, her bathroom is cluttered with irons, make-up, curlers, towels, barrettes, etc. etc. and at any given time there are several outfits laying all over the room as they failed the fashion test for school that day.  I dare not ask her to hang up the clothes anymore as she just takes them and shoves them in the dirty clothes basket even though they have never been worn.  As a result I end up picking them up and hanging them instead of spending several more hour hours a day doing all the additional laundry which was never even laundry to begin with….Ahhhhh the joys of being a mom!  Good times and she is only 11!

Typically I don’t get into too many of my children’s successes and achievements as I have 4 of them and I would be posting several times a day…and then it would start to seem like I was bragging….BUT I really felt that this was a proud moment as a parent and well worth sharing.

My 2nd grader, Seamus, signed and handed in this discipline form with a forged signature. His teacher said that most children wait until they are in middle school to pull that behavior, not 2nd grade. Apparently my son is gifted and way ahead of his time.

I need to talk to the principal and see if I can get him into the gifted program STAT!

IMG_3720I’m not one to make excuses….BUT I’m going to do it anyway!  So life is crazy 24-7….we all know that.  But is that an excuse for not blogging on my own website for months!  I’m not going to beat myself up but that’s lame. Well maybe I’ll beat myself up a little….with a wet noodle perhaps.

So here I go again making another New Year’s resolution…yes, I know its not a New Year…but this one is going to stick!

So get ready to hear about  all the weird and exciting stuff that has been going on in my life!  And believe me there is always something going on!

photo-130I can’t deny the joy one feels when the summer comes to an end and the school year is about to begin.  I guess I can’t speak for everyone BUT for me it is a real treat.  Even though I have my kids involved in various activities they still seem to crave some sort of schedule.  No matter how great of a mom you are the kids still get sick of you and need some other outside adult and kid contact…..I don’t care what anyone says.  THIS is why I could never ever home school my kids.  I want my kids to actually like me :) ….and on certain days I’m not always sure of that.

So this weekend I will party with friends and raise a glass to all the moms that are feeling the same sense of joy and relief that I am…..and I know there a few mom’s out there that know exactly what I am talking about!!!

305545_390031281036621_361625270543889_1178650_852385064_n I’m getting on stage in New Mexico for the first time ever!  No not as Roxi Starr but as an improviser!   I’ll be improvising with one of my all time favorite performance partners, Kathleen Fontaine and a couple of cool cats, Ron and Zach.

I LOVE to improvise, teach improvisation or watch improv – totally in my blood for over 20 years and I always welcome the opportunity with open arms.   Improvising as an actor is like a body builder going to gym for a workout.  It keeps our actor selves in shape and on our tippy toes.

Kathleen and I feed off of each others’ energy.  Being on stage with her is no different than the two of us hanging out on any other day EXCEPT people are paying to see us…..and it’s totally worth it!

If you are in the neighborhood and want to laugh til you pee your pants then get your butt to the Starlight Lounge!

KileyWhen Kiley was a few months old a friend of mine came up to me and said, “She’s your summer house.”  Of course I had no idea what they were talking about so I had to ask.  She said, “Look at her, she’s gorgeous.”  Then it clicked.  If I got this girl into modeling or acting her looks alone could bank roll our summer house….and unfortunately selling your children is illegal so the summer house might be the only logical plan.

Kiley is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.  She is kind, loving, engaging and cute as a button….but she can also get mad at her sister in a heart beat and give her a smack, a pinch or a punch.  Don’t ever underestimate her strength as she is by far the strongest person on the house….with the exception of Jim that is.

She just turned 8 years old and is all about it!  She got her ears pieced, asked for a camera and is saving her money from her grandparents for a plane ticket to Maryland.  She always has a plan or agenda and is not afraid to get out there and make it happen.

To the sweetest little Kiley….Here’s a Happy B-Day “whoop whoop!”
